Netflix: Blu-Ray Only  Feb, 11 2008
News LogoIn what is another devastating blow to Microsoft and the HD-DVD format, Netflix has announced that it will only carry Blu-Ray high definition dvds.

"The prolonged period of competition between two formats has prevented clear communication to the consumer regarding the richness of the high-def experience versus standard definition," said Ted Sarandos, chief content officer for Netflix. "We're now at the point where the industry can pursue the migration to a single format, bring clarity to the consumer and accelerate the adoption of high-def. Going forward, we expect that all of the studios will publish in the Blu-ray format and that the price points of high-def DVD players will come down significantly. These factors could well lead to another decade of disc-based movie watching as the consumer's preferred means."

Review: Toshiba M205  Feb, 7 2008
News LogoA lot of people over the past few months have asked me to recommend them an affordable notebook that does it all. They want a simple system that works. Most of the time, I would recommend a Toshiba System like the U305 or the TX1000 from HP, but those two notebooks sometimes offered a bit more than what some people wanted.

Now, I can recommend to those people the M205 from Toshiba. The M205 is a small 14" system with a Core 2 Duo Processor 1 Gig of Ram, 160 GB of hard drive space, DVD drive (writer), widescreen truebrite monitor, built in wireless (a/b/g), built in 1.3 megapixel webcam, and pre-installed with Windows Vista Premium.

News LogoMicrosoft will be releasing Windows Vista Sp1 soon, so I thought I would tell you all what to expect from it. But first, today is the one year anniversary of the launch of Windows Vista, and while those who dislike the OS have been extremely vocal, there are a lot of people who do enjoy Vista; I am one of them.

Windows Vista promised a lot, and to launch it on time Microsoft cut a lot of fat. That ruined it for some, because they expected certain features and didn't get them. I myself was disappointed, but I got over it pretty quickly.
