The makers of the popular eDonkey peer too peer file sharing program has agreed to pay $30 million to settle a copyright infringement suit with various music labels.

The judge in the case said that eDonkey facilitated illegal activity by allowing its users to swap copyrighted material. The judge also ruled that the Overnet network is illegal, and there for the eDonkey software can no longer be distributed.

The eDonkey site is no longer active on the web and users are unable to download it however current users still have access to the network.
