Packet8 today accidently sent out a newsletter that exposed all of its clients emails. The Company apologized saying it would never happen again.

So what does this mean for the Packet8 Customer? Well 70,000 plus emails were exposed in what appears to be batches of 23,000. Evil users can sell these email addresses to spammers and or use them for their own evil doing.

If you are a Packet8 User please be wary of any email you recieve from now on.

Do we need to teach Packet8 how to use the BBC Feild?

According to this report, the threat is much greater than just spam: phishers can now send out emails asking Packet8 customers to "update" their information.

Also the 23,000 represents the complete email distribution list, according to the report, not just a batch.

This is such a Big Deal... Oh my gosh...I should run and hide. Oh wait...I got Junk folder in my yahoo mail for spams already.

Come on folks. If you need real drama....How about citibank lost back up tapes with customer bank account number, social security number, etc. a few months ago. How many customer was that? I think it was millions of accounts.

I'll come back and post if I see any spam from this...how about that.

For those who wants fact:
call CityFinancial 866-452-2484

Michael,
I believe your claim that UPS found the tape drives is incorrect. Based on my conversation, Citibank still can not confirm that the tapes were found as of today. Where is your source? I would like to believe your word but a verification would be nice. Post us a link, please.

Also, how about the following tape drives status:
Time Waner 600,000 employees' data
Ameritrade 200,000 customers' data
Bank of America 1.2 credit card customers' data.
