I have been using Yahoo!’s IM service for many years now and it seems over the last three years that their service has gone downhill. The application always does something unexpected. When I started to use a MAC, the one thing I noticed was that in a chat conversation, when a new message came in from the people I was speaking with, the chat log window would scroll to the BEGINNING of the conversation instead of at the end. This makes me have to scroll down to the bottom every time a message comes in and that’s just ANNOYING!
Over the last three years I’ve been using Y! Messenger via SMS to communicate with family overseas. This allows me to send/receive messages on my mobile phone. The thing that irritates me about this is that the Y! Messenger client allows me to select privacy settings such that I only get messages from people who are on my contact list. This is great because it persists whenever I log in from any computer, but I’ve noticed that it doesn’t work when I’m logged in via SMS. I get a crapload of a lot of spam messages from bots and it’s friggen annoying!
If you’re on the Yahoo! Messenger team and you’re reading this, what the heck?! Why has the quality of your product gone downhill over the past few years?

I am not an avid fan of YM because of the time of hangs up and crashes too. I just dont know why. I would rather use the skype or msn

i really hate this ym! i am online but people in my list don’t rcv my msgs everytime i chat wid them. rly sucks! then the next thing i know is im alrdy f*cking disconnected! then online then goes offline then stupid sh*t won’t login anymore! you really rly suuuuuckkk!!!

I am using yahoo for many years. It is great that if some can send SMS to his friend’s mobile phone through yahoo messenger. Yahoo claims free SMS to some countries only. The reality is that if you send SMS for three consequent messages to a particular cell phone, the next message that you are going to get is “Note: Phone number --------- cannot receive SMS messages at this time.” So dear friends if you are seeing this message, yahoo SMS really SUCKS. Otherwise, what is the secret behind that message?
