Gamers know that every little bit of processing power they can get out of their system may improve their gaming experience just enough to make it to the next level. So many including my self have disable their anti virus software while playing games.
I disable it to get back that memory and CPU power the anti virus software is using, others disable it because getting an alert during game play can ruin any mission they may be on. But with so many games on-line you start to put your system at risk when you disable your anti-virus, and I for one have noticed that the major security software makers have trimmed down enough on the bloat that you can run it while playing a game.
Symantec knows this and this is why today they bring us Norton Antivirus 2009 for Gamers.
“Gamers are an extremely demanding audience that simply won’t tolerate anything on their system that detracts from gameplay,” said Rowan Trollope, senior vice president, Consumer Products, Symantec. “Norton AntiVirus Gaming Edition keeps gamers protected online and runs perfectly undetected in the background, meaning no interruptions, no pop-ups, and with the same award winning zero-impact performance of our 2009 products.”
I personally have been using the Gamer version of Norton AntiVirus 2009 for a while now and during game play I notice no slow down, and because it doesn’t alert me of any problems while I am playing a game alerts don’t fight with the game for priority on my screen, or my screen doesn’t suddenly go blank and return me to my desktop during the middle of a gun battle in crysis. Which has happened way too man times in the past.
Something to note is, just like the non gaming version of Norton AntiVirus 2009 it installs in under 60 seconds, on the Toshiba P305 I installed it on it did it in under 50 seconds, and just like the non gamer version it caught all the virus samples I had at it and protected me when I visited suspicious websites.
The user interface on the gamer version is also a bit different, and I think it looks kind of cool.
Norton AntiVirus 2009 is a Must Have for any Gamer and for that we award it our 5 Star Must Have Award.

Good for gamers… Just like a silent mode in the NAV2009… Light and easy to use… Really love NAV2009…
It will be good if bundled with some game in the product package…

Do you know if you can replace the Antivirus bundled with Internet Security package with the Gaming Edition if you have both?

I am not sure, but they are exactly the same thing.
