The RIAA has scored a victory in the first ever Federal Criminal Trial against an online music pirate. A 25 year old Barry Gitarts of Brooklyn (NYC) was convicted by a Federal Jury in Va. He faces up to 5 years in prison, and a $250,000 fine, oh and he also has to pay the RIAA for the music he pirated.
So can you face a similar case for sharing music? Nah probably not. Gitarts did a lot more than just share files on P2P, he hosted the server and made it available to everyone in a private group called “Apocalypse Production Crew”.
