So I have been playing with Panda Internet Security 2010, and I wasn’t expecting much since their 2009 product left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

I wasn’t initially going to review it, Maarten (AlphaAlien) was but due to a system issue he was having he couldn’t so the task fell upon me.

Compared to last year their product is much better, a slightly faster install time but still not as fast as it could be. Their 2009 product took 8 minutes to install, the 2010 version only 5 minutes. Still longer than McAfee and Norton.

Panda Internet SecurityBut I do have to give them credit the 2010 version does not use as many resources as the 2009 version, and I think that is key when getting any Security Software, you need one that will protect you without slowing you down.

The User Interface for Panda Internet Security 2010 is also much more stream lined than previous versions and I didn’t find myself lost using it like I did with the 2009 version.

However while the UI is much better, it still has some annoyances that were present in the 2009 version. I really hope someone from Panda is listening.

When I click “Update Now” don’t throw up a wizard hidden behind the program, put it in front so I can see it. I find this to be annoying, if I am clicking “Update Now” I want to update now, and not later when I close Panda Internet Security and see the Update Wizard.

Any who I tested the software by visiting websites I know tend to try an exploit your system when you visit them, and on each instance Panda Internet Security detected any and all threats.

The Firewall was also easy to use and configure, it detected attempts to access my machine quickly and prevented them all.

The Online Backup is ok, not a huge fan of online backups as I think they are too slow and expensive but I gave it a shot and it worked pretty well not as good as other services out there but it worked the way it should and it was easy to set up.

Overall Panda Internet Security 2010 is much better than their 2009 product but it still needs a lot of improvement.
