I am not much of a graphics or 3D artist, but I was able to test out this software called iClone, which basically allows you to create a 3D person and put it in different environments and then make a video.

What’s so cool about it, is that it does it all in real time, so you see your results immediately.

My friend who is a graphics artist actually tried out the software for me, and he was making video portraits of his entire family, and even created some for tutorials on a internal website for his job. (I’m trying to get one to show you)

I even tried the software myself and while I was not as good as my friend I was able to make a few videos of my friend Indi walking. (I love the view from the back)

Another cool thing is you can buy additional content for the software or create your own, so if you are “design-challenged” like me, you can download better scenery and if you are a great designer you can make your own. Even if you aren’t the greatest of designers you can still design your own scenery it isn’t as hard as you may think and if I wasn’t so impatient I probably could’ve created my own.

There are also dozens of video tutorials available online on how to use the software, so you don’t have to learn on your own. (http://www.reallusion.com/reallusiontv/ic/tutorial.asp)

What blew my mind the most was how realistic everything looked, the way the 3D characters moved was very realistic.

I definitely recommend this to everyone who likes to just create 3D movies and can’t afford some of the expensive software. I also recommend it to people who want to make video tutorials and do not have the funds to hire an actor.

There is a free trial of the iClone software available at Reallusion.com, I suggest you try it out. If you decide to buy the software which cost $199.95 you will receive a free bonus pack full of additional content.

You can also buy content packs, which range in price from $20 – 100 USD.
