I went to Pepcom’s Holiday Spectacular today and man, it wasn’t easy.  I was in Dallas working, and I had to ask my boss to let me leave early.  I got on a cab, told the dude I was going to miss my flight, only because I was going to try to get on a standby one, ended up getting there super quick, and thanks to my Platinum status on American was able to get to NYC in time.

Sheesh! Close call.

I was sort of out of it when I got there because I was on a 3+ hr flight, sleeping for most of it, and you could tell…lol.

The highlight was the fact that Memorex was there targeting women – I was like wtshit! Woohoo!!!!  I introduced myself as “Radiris Diaz – the female perspective of HardwareGeeks.com” and after awhile I had to stop and think.  I thought “Damn, I’m nice with it!” I told Mike, that’s my new elevator pitch and he made fun of me and asked me if I practiced in front of the mirror.

I didn’t practice, nor think about it, but that’s what I am – ain’t I.  Aren’t I here to shed some light on the user experience, the female user that is. I’m not super techie, (to some), but you know what – I work on a computer all damn day, own a surround sound, burn music on cds, transfer files on thumb drives, take tons of pictures on digital cameras, use a GPS system in whatever city I’m in, use ear pieces to run, or to drive, appreciate comfort, hate bulky things, and love things that have spunk, that add personality – so you know what techie gods – I am a techie! I’m just a different one damnit!

I met some cool people but the best booth was HPs.  It’s not because they sent me the TouchSmart (which got upgraded to an even bigger monitor!) or because they invited me to dinner w/ them last week, buttttttttttttt it was because I saw Andy Lutzky, someone I was emailing back and forth, and when he finally saw me, he said “Wowwwwww” – it wasn’t a sleazy kind of wow, but an extremely flattering one.  I felt like I had to stand up straight and put lipstick or lipgloss on, to continue the conversation, but that’s just me being a flirt.  He was extremely welcoming, which is nice, in a world full of technology where we only communicate online, or on a phone.  Ann Finnie was a doll!  Working in the corporate world sort of makes you numb, but when she saw me, (also, someone who never met me in person) she hugged me – she freaking hugged me, and the Latina in me almost kissed her on her cheek.  I felt like I knew this people, as I looked and flicked through their pictures on the new HP.  They’re probably one of the most down to earth companies ever.  Kevin Wentzel was another cool one.  We spotted him all over the event, and he was always chilling, open to talking about whatever.  Thanks for showing me a good time.  I think I will change my name to Radiris Diaz HP – because I found a new fam – that’s me being corny and girlie, sorry!!!!!

I received a super hot ear piece from Jawbone – I won’t put a picture because I think Mike is handling the unboxing, but boy is it sexyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

expresso fitnessThe coolest thing at the event was Expresso Fitness – they had an exercise machine, set up w/ a screen and diff’t sceneries, and you could change the gears on it, as you rode it.  It was like riding a bike down the coast with other riders, so it made you want to go faster, to beat them of course.  I even tried to hit one, but this is made for kids I guess, they just disappeared.  (that was the gamer in me, trying to win and kill – what a shame haha jk) They told me to try it for 5 minutes and I had to stop after maybe 2.  I was breathing as if I was in a plastic bag, and my legs were burning.  I think its an extremely well thought out innovative product.  It’s about 5Gs, but if you think exercising is boring, that would definitely change it up for you.  I think they should work on having real sceneries, like the option to go to Madrid, or somewhere on another continent – I don’t know…it’s just a thought  (thx for the gym bag, water bottle and towel – I’m going to hit the gym hard next week)

Sorry for being MIA hardware geeks – work has been taking all my time!  You’ll be hearing more from me – I promise!
