Microsoft’s Mojave Experiment went live today, in the experiment they take users who dislike Windows Vista and show them a new version of Windows codenamed “Mojave”. Mojave is actually Windows Vista.
The Vista Skeptics in the video are amazed and love Mojave, even though they dislike Vista. They claim Mojave is faster and easier to use and when they are told it’s Windows Vista they are all shocked.
A average rating of Windows Vista was 4.4 and after they saw Mojave it was 8.4. Most of the videos praised Mojave and essentially Vista afterwards.
Microsoft used a HP Pavilion DV2500. It had 2GB of RAM and was running an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T7500 @ 2.20GHz. The OS was a 32 bit version of Windows Vista Ultimate.
Mary Jo Foley is curious to the results if Apple conducted the experiment. I think if Steve Jobs and Company did conduct the experiment we would never see the videos.

First, Vista isn’t as bad as the media has portayed it but that said I have some comments about this experiment. First a different UI was used and the standard Vista UI (and the actions involved) is what garners a good chunk of the criticism. Second, you only hear from the users that liked it. Will this be enough to counter the “I’m a PC-I’m a Mac” ads? This seems like the first marketing salvo to counter those ads.

it’s weird. I just happened to run into an ad for that today.
I was coming here to mention it only to see it was already mentioned.

BTW at least one of the items the subjects got to see is part of Windows Live (Panoramic photo stitching) rather than Vista. How about the Multiplayer games? Are those part of Vista? I also wonder how their scores would have been if they actually had to USE VISTA instead of watching video of it being used.
