It would seem that Microsoft wants to find a cheap replacement for RFID tags and create a way for consumers to get information on a product with just taking a picture of a colorful image.
This past week at CES Microsoft Mobile introduced me to what they are calling Microsoft Tag. The tag which will be appearing on Microsoft products this quarter, will allow users who have cellphones with internet access to get information about a product on their mobile device. Uers will have to have a small piece of software installed on their mobile device for it to work.
While these tags will not replace RFID technology in general, it will in my opinion be much easier and cheaper to use by consumers who want to get information quickly about a product, or even tag items in their home.
To get Microsoft’s Tag software on your mobile phone visit http://gettag.mobi on your mobile phone.
You can even make your own tags at http://www.microsoft.com/tag/

I heard it won’t do black and white as it needs the colors. Although long zeng is trying to clain it does but he really makes stuff up sometimes.
