Microsoft today announced the availability of Internet Explorer 8.0. The new web browser is much faster than Internet Explorer 7 and more compliant when it comes to HTML. The browser features web slices which are similar to RSS feeds but offer more information and can be customized, to display a widget of sorts.

“Customers have made clear what they want in a Web browser—safety, speed and greater ease of use,” said Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft. “With Internet Explorer 8, we are delivering a browser that gets people to the information they need, fast, and provides protection that no other browser can match.”

Having tested the browser I can say it’s ready for prime time but expect some issues. There are a lot of security enhancements in IE 8 that will protect you better from phishing scams and other attacks you may face on the web.
