Yesterday it was announced that Dirk Meyer will replace Hector Ruiz as President and CEO of the company. While most companies would have issues with a new CEO at the helm and employees would have to get use to it. That doesn’t seem to be the case with AMD.
Since yesterday I have spoken with several people from AMD and they all have basically told me the same thing. That Dirk has been running the show for sometime and that if anything the CEO title Hector Ruiz held was just an honorary title.
One AMD employee told me “I never heard any product manager or department manager say it’s up to Hector or we need Hectors Approval, it has been we need Dirks approval and it has been that way for sometime.”
So will there be a learning curve for employees at AMD with their new CEO? Doesn’t seem like it.
But I do have one burning question, if Dirk has been at the helm unofficially for sometime as some AMD employees have pointed out off the record. Is he or Hector Ruiz to blame for the companies problems?
