Rahul Sood stunned Apple users when he posted pictures of himself using a MacBook Air to cut his Birthday cake on his blog, and since then some speculated that something big from Voodoo and HP was on the Horizon.
Then the Voodoo website went up in flames. So we knew something was cooking, just in-time for HP’s Connected World 2008 in Berlin. But no one really knew what it was. (I did just couldn’t tell ya)
While everyone speculated of something huge, it actually turned out to be something far from huge. HP and Voodoo introduced the Envy 133, an ultra thin, ultra stylish system that is THINNER than the Macbook air.
When I first saw a prototype of the Envy 133, HP had their finger on the button to call Security because they could see the envy in my eyes and knew I was plotting a way to take it home with me, and if you ever see one in person trust me you will plot stealing it. Heck in Berlin there was one stolen from the press room (at least that is the rumor).
The system is amazing, it is built with carbon fibre so it’s extremely durable, it has a beautiful 13.3” screen, back lit keyboard, nice sized touchpad that supports gestures such as pinching. The feel of the keyboard and touchpad on your fingers is also, hmm hard to explain but it has somewhat of an elegant feeling.
Powered by an Intel Centrino Core 2 duo processor the Envy 133 is a super fast machine, and speaking of super fast ever want to load an application in 5 seconds from a turned off machine? Well with the Envy 133 you can with the Voodoo IOS (instant on solution). Basically using Linux you can boot into Skype or other applications with in 5 seconds. Booting into windows is a bit longer but if you are like me and travel a lot you may not have time to load windows and fire up skype all the time.
Check out this video that Lucy Hedges from ShinyShiny.TV made (I am the guy holding the camera
) for a bit more info about the Envy 133.
