For the past few days, I have been playing around with the at&t Navigator for the iPhone powered by Telenav, and having been using Telenav software on my Blackberry with Sprint I have some experience with their software and I expected the same experience on the iPhone.
But I got something better, I got what is in my opinion the fastest telenav product I have ever used when displaying my current location it does it almost instantly, while on my WinMo or Blackberry devices it can take as long as 10 minutes to locate me. Maybe it has something to do with how the GPS Function works on the iPhone more than the software but needless to say I was instantly impressed.
The UI with the iPhone version is similar but because of the bigger screen on the iPhone when compared to my past Blackberry and Windows Mobile devices for some reason it looks a whole lot better.
One thing is for sure, the turn by turn navigation on the iPhone is a lot easier to see and hear.
I haven’t tested out all of the features of the at&t Navigator software, but from what I can tell so far the $9.99 monthly fee is well deserved. I Will post more about this GPS software as soon as I play with it some more and normally I would wait until I am done playing with something to tell you about it, but I was just so excited I could not wait.
On a side note Navigon released a lite version of their iPhone software for the US and expect a paid version of their software to be available soon, seeing that their Europe version cost $140 USD I would expect their US version to be in that price range.
I would rather pay 10 bucks a month for the service that I may not alwayas need and can disable and re enable when I need it.
