Today Apple computers previewed their iPhone 2.0 software includes an SDK (Software Development Kit) and Microsoft Exchange Active-Sync which will help business customers sync their computers with the iPhone, offer push email, and access to Virtual Private Networks.

The software which is scheduled to be released in June is currently available to selected Enterprise Customers and and Developers.

“We’re excited about creating a vibrant third party developer community with potentially thousands of native applications for iPhone and iPod touch,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “iPhone’s enterprise features combined with its revolutionary Multi-Touch user interface and advanced software architecture provide the best user experience and the most advanced software platform ever for a mobile device.”

The SDK and an iPhone emulator will be available for free, Apple also launched the iPhone Developers Network.

When the Software is finally released in June, it will contain a section called “App Store” this is where users will be able to purchase various applications for their iPhone. So how much will each app cost? Apple didn’t say but they did say they will charge 30% of each sale to the developers.

Microsoft also seemed pleased with the Apple announcement, well why wouldn’t they be? They will be making money off the iPhone.

“We’re happy that Apple is adding the iPhone to the growing number of mobile devices that connect with Exchange Server. As part of a business agreement with Microsoft, Apple will build Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync into the iPhone – making it possible for iPhone owners to access Exchange and take advantage of its secure mobile communications features” said Terry Myerson, corporate vice president for Exchange.
