Looks cool, but someone in your other post said it looked like the PS3.

I don’t think it does.

It does in the sense that the menu groups go up, down, left, and right like the PS3’s XMB interface.

but thats a given that the menu will go up down left right.

The current 360 dash board goes up down left right

Of course a menu will go left and and up and down but the previous interface was a series of tabs and now it is a menu of categories with items floating by.

If anything, with the reflection and all, it more reminiscent of the various incarnations of the Apple TV interface. Granted, MSFT had their media center beforehand but the visual style is similar to Apple’s product.

It could also be argued that, much like how MSFT liked to copy Apple’s UI with the start button versus the Apple menu or Vista Search in start menu versus Spotlight search, MSFT likes to copy features by either flipping or reversing design of another company.

MSFT has been doing that for a long time. For example, the WAV format is apparently esentially the inverse of the AIFF format. Did you ever noticed that in DOS viewers on old machines BMP files loaded from the bottom up instead of the top to the bottom? Things that make you got hmmm.

I actually am not liking the gray at all. I hope they theme each icon, similar to what the PS3 does for the games. I think that should really help. But honestly, overall I’m actually not really liking this interface. It feels like its trying to be a Dashboard XMB hybrid. I dunno, they still have time to tweak it though. The avatars though, look laughable.

That just looks like wallpaper. I could be wrong but it looks like the category entries and the gray floor are the same as the default.

It is an improvement from the tabbed interface.
