I usually consider fanservice to be a derogatory term, but in the case of Monty Oum’s work, there’s a definite exception. The phenomenal amount of effort that goes into producing these videos is clear in both their detail and their length. For anybody who’s already seen these videos, you know what I’m talking about, but for those who haven’t, hit the link and prepare to be blown away.
Monty Oum’s first posted video game crossover is titled “Haloid” and combines the main characters from Bungie’s Halo series and Nintendo’s Metroid series in a confrontation of Matrix-esque proportions (the soundtrack may incline you to agree). Granted, he’s taking a few liberties with the characters, their abilities, and maybe even their anatomies, but hey, it’s fanservice, right?
His second video is entitled “Dead Fantasy” and brings together some of the flagship females from Tecmo’s Dead or Alive series and Square-Enix’s long-running Final Fantasy juggernaut.
Sorry folks, only two videos today because he hasn’t finished Dead Fantasy II yet, but if you want to track his progress, you can always visit his deviantART page for updates. If you enjoyed the videos, I highly recommend you head over to Gametrailers to watch the HD versions.
UPDATE: Well, whadda ya know? No more than a few days after I post this Monty releases Dead Fantasy II. Enjoy, folks.
Oh, and much like the games that these characters were pulled from, Monty is projecting several more videos in this particular series. Yay?

I’m loving the first video, seeing Samus and Master Cheif fighting was awesome.
