GameTrailers has posted a direct-feed video walkthrough of the recently announced dashboard redesign for the Xbox 360.  View the video after the break, or check out the HD version here.

Microsoft’s own Major Nelson blog has detailed additional features that will be included in the upcoming dashboard update for the Xbox 360.  Apparently this is only the beginning and additional details about features will be revealed in the coming months leading up to the fall release.  Read on for highlights of some notable features.

News from E3 2008 continues as Microsoft announced that the Xbox 360 will be receiving content from NBC, Universal, and Netflix.  Available today, users will be able to download TV shows from NBC, as well as movies from Universal via the Xbox Live Marketplace.  This includes hit shows such as The Office and Heroes, and popular movies such as The Bourne Supremacy and The Mummy.

The rumors were true once again, as Microsoft announced a partnership with Netflix to bring more movies to the Xbox 360.  Xbox Live Gold members who also have a Netflix membership will be able to stream movies at no additional cost.

It looks like the rumors were right; Microsoft announced in their E3 press conference that the Xbox 360’s dashboard will be getting a makeover as well as an avatar system this fall.  The new dashboard interface is designed to be simpler and more streamlined than the current dashboard, replacing the current blades system with 3D slides.  Microsoft is also releasing a 3D avatar system for the Xbox 360, much like the ones seen for Nintendo’s Miis and PlayStation’s Home.

Microsoft today announced that it has dropped the price on the Xbox 360 with the 20 GB hard drive to $299.99, and a 60 GB Xbox 360 will be sold for $349.99.

The new price will take effect on Monday and once all the 20 GB Xbox 360’s are gone you will not see them anymore. You can expect to see the 60 GB Xbox 360 in stores in August.

We know consumers need more and more space to store the amazing digital content Xbox 360 offers, and we’re giving it to them at no extra charge,” said Albert Penello, Xbox director of product management at Microsoft. “No one device offers the depth and breadth of entertainment that Xbox 360 can deliver, and now you’ll have three times the storage to manage all that great content.”

Today Microsoft has announced that it has some over 10 million Xbox 360 Consoles in the US alone, and over 19 million worldwide, Microsoft also said it has over 12 million Xbox Live users and gloated that they have a total of 16 games that have sold over a million copies for the Xbox 360. which is double the Wii. The Playstation 3 just has two.

Microsoft said that the number 1 gaming console for each generation that reached 10 million sales in the US was typically the best system in that generation, but Microsoft should watch what they say, Nintendo has already sold 8.8 Million Wiis in the US, and they reached that number faster than what Microsoft did. Sony has just sold 4.1 Million Playstation 3 consoles.

According to an updated FAQ, those of you who are caught cheating or tampering with your gamescore, will have your scores reset to 0. That means you will also lose all of your achievements.

But the kicker is, you will also be labeled a cheater for everyone to see. So cheaters be warned and bravo Microsoft!

Today Microsoft announced that the prices for their Xbox 360 consoles in Europe will drop.

The Arcade pack will have a recommended retail price of £159.99 (down £ 40), the Premium pack will be £199.99 (down £ 60), and the Elite £259.99 (down £40). Seems like the Premium will have the biggest price cut. These new prices go into effect on Friday March 14th 2008.

Microsoft said the price cut is business as usual, but one has to wonder if the success the PS3 has had of late is a major factor in their decision, and claimed the Xbox 360 is the biggest selling console in Europe.
