If you have any apps that Apple does not want you to have, for example the “Tethering App” your iPhone may eventually phone home and the iPhone will disable it and prevent you from using it.

C|Net News.com says the author of “iPhone Open Application Development and an iPhone forensics manual” has found a URL inside the coding of the iPhone software that list bad apps. While the list is currently empty he fears that Apple can easily tell iPhones to disable applications.

Looking at the supposed Blacklist Apps page, the wording on it makes me wonder if Apple just wants to disable Apps it considers malicious such as spyware or maybe an App that simply does not work correctly and interferes with the normal use of the phone.

Today Apple computers previewed their iPhone 2.0 software includes an SDK (Software Development Kit) and Microsoft Exchange Active-Sync which will help business customers sync their computers with the iPhone, offer push email, and access to Virtual Private Networks.

The software which is scheduled to be released in June is currently available to selected Enterprise Customers and and Developers.

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has told Silicon.com that he is disappointed that the iPhone isn’t a 3G phone.

“To tell you the truth, I was disappointed ... half the phones in the AT&T store were 3G already.” He said.

Wonzinak is a self-confessed mobile broadband addict (like me) says he uses the iPhone, but suffers from slow speeds from time to time.

Apple has confirmed that there is a security glitch in OS X that may allow a person with physical access to your computer to retrieve your password.

Apple blames the glitch on the way the code for OS X is written, Apparently OS X allows for your password to be stored in the computers memory for longer than what its needed. Apple is said to be working on an update to fix the problem.

Paypal Cheif Information Security Officer Michael Barrett warns Paypals millions of users to avoid using Apples Safari browser, because it lacks two important anti-phishing features.

“Apple, unfortunately, is lagging behind what they need to do, to protect their customers,” Barrett said in an interview with infoworld. “Our recommendation at this point, to our customers, is use Internet Explorer 7 or 8 when it comes out, or Firefox 2 or Firefox 3, or indeed Opera.”

Apple sent out invitations today for a special event that will be held on March 6th, 2008 at their campus in Cupertino, CA.  The invite-only event will reveal details about the anticipated iPhone SDK.  Not many other details were given out the event, but it’s safe to assume the previously delayed SDK will be released on this date.  The SDK will allow for third-party developers to create native applications for Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch.  Currently, third-party developers can only release web-based applications for these devices.

Today Apple updated their notebook lineup with minor changes to their MacBook and MacBook Pro products.  Both products include newer, faster processors from Intel based on the “Penryn” core, as well as increases in hard drive space.  Specific to the MacBook, it received a RAM upgrade to 2 GB standard on all models except the entry model.  Specific to the MacBook Pro, it received an upgrade in VRAM on their Nvidia graphics cards, as well as a new 17” LED built-to-order option.

The MacBook Pro also received the new multi-touch trackpad that was first introduced in the MacBook Air.  The multi-touch trackpad allows for control of various features on the computer through the use of gestures such as pinching or swiping, as seen on the iPhone.  Only the MacBook Pro model was updated with this new trackpad, and the MacBook now remains Apple’s only notebook without this feature.

Prices for all notebook models remain unchanged.  View the press release after the jump.

Apple today released an updated firmware (version 1.1.4) for the iPhone. There seems to be no new features with the new firmware and just bug fixes.

So far there are no reports if the new firmware locks up jailbroken iPhones and my suggestion to those with a jailbroken iPhone; is not to update until you hear for sure that it can be unlocked again.

Apple also has said nothing about the delayed SDK for the iPhone.

There are reports spreading that Apple is currently trying to patent the pinch mechanism it built into the iPhone and the recently released iPod Touch & MacBook Air devices.

If the patents were approved, companies that had plans to implement a multi-touch sensor in their devices will find a roadblock to their development even though Apple is not the first to release a product with multi-touch capabilities, Microsoft and Synaptics are two such companies that have products that utilized multi-touch technology.
