Livescribe Pulse Smartpen is finally in stores soon, Amazon.com will have the Smartpen starting the 1st of July and Target Stores Nationwide will have them in stores on the 13th of July.

The Smartpen is basically the adult version of the FlyFusion Pentop computer from Leapfrog. But unlike the FlyFusion which was speaker based, the FlyFusion is both Speaker and LCD screen based, so if you do not want the pen to talk or make and sounds you can silence it and just use the LCD screen on the side of the pen.

I saw a demo of the pen last week, and it basically worked the same way as the FlyFusion Pentop computer, but it had a more sophisticated look.

Livescribe SmartpenI will be getting one of these pens soon and have a full in-depth review for you guys after I get it. I don’t have it yet but from the demo I had I can tell you already I am in love with it.

“The Livescribe Pulse smartpen is a great productivity and learning tool for today’s college student,” said Jack Bahlman, vice president of sales and marketing for The Douglas Stewart Company. “In lectures, Pulse captures everything you write and hear, making it incredibly useful and easy for students to review notes and prepare for exams.”

The Pulse smartpen captures handwriting and simultaneously records audio and synchronizes it to the writing, so users never miss a word. Pulse is available in two models. Priced at $149, the 1GB model provides storage for over 100 hours of recorded audio. At $199, the 2GB model doubles the storage capacity and provides more flexibility for downloading future applications. In addition to the Pulse smartpen, consumers may also buy Livescribe dot paper and the latest accessories, such as the Premium Leather Case ($24.95), 2-Pack of Journals ($24.95), 4-Pack of College-Ruled Notebooks ($19.95) or 5-Pack of Ink Cartridges ($5.95).

I would get one if it were black

I have the fly fusion pen for my nepthew and he enjoys it. I even use it sometimes. I play the piano with it. I’m pretty good too.

I just think it is a scam that you have to buy special paper for it

I think that is a scam too, but with the smartpen you can print the paper out, and the notebook really isn;t that expensive either.
