The 6930, the unit where we get the 24 hours with the extended battery in neither an ultraportable or ultralight. It’s a 5 pound Notebook without the extended battery you need for the 24 hours. . We don’t classify it as ultraportable or ultralight. In HP terminology it’s a balance mobility category. For the rest of the world, it’s probably called mainstream. It’s your corporate 14” notebook

I apologize to HP if this communique was under NDA, because the email did not say it was. But HP has told me that one of their new Elitebook has up to 24 hours of battery life. That is 27% more than Dells 19 hour battery life claim which was 27% more of the 15 hour battery life claim by HP.

What is different about HP’s 24 hour claim is that they are going to send me a system to put the battery life to the test for my self so that I can see with my very own eyes. So I will let you know as soon as I get it.

I call it bull shit just like the dell one, until proven otherwise. Hey run your camera for 24 hours recording every minute of it lol.

Dell Says: My Dick is Longer
HP Says: No my Dick is Longer

I’m thinking of a way to record my self using the system for 24 hours maybe do a live stream.

Dogerfan93 on Wed, Aug 20th, 2008 at 02:45 PM

only do that if we can see the stink lines coming off you after hour 20, as proof you haven’t bathed in 24 hours.

I vote for a battle of the runtime

may the best battery win

I agree with Alpha, in that we should have a shootout. However, we need to establish the criteria for the test such that factors external to the battery are taken into consideration. Do we know what the basis for HP’s claim is? Smarter hardware?

Michael on Wed, Aug 20th, 2008 at 02:53 PM

from my understanding both systems use an ultra low voltage intel chip, solid state drive and onboard graphics.

I’m trying to get HP and Dell to loan me one of each system at the same time, so far only heard back from HP and they said yes, haven’t heard back from Dell on my original question so I haven’t even asked for a loaner yet

Chris on Wed, Aug 20th, 2008 at 02:58 PM

If a test is done, the two systems should have the exact same specs, and if the specs vary tell us where they vary and what effect that may have.

Also if one system has a web cam and the other doesn’t it should be disabled etc.

Also it should be done with the pre-installed software from both companies no ultra clean systems i want a test done on a system that I can buy.

sounds like a plan

Broady on Wed, Aug 20th, 2008 at 04:03 PM

I bet the benchmarks they ran for to get 24 hours involves no work and just notepad open.

Dogerfan93 on Wed, Aug 20th, 2008 at 05:22 PM

24 hours, who uses their laptop for 24 hours non stop anyway?
