If you are reading this, you probably sit in front of the computer screen a few hours a day and maybe you have noticed sometimes your eyes get a big blurry, maybe even watery and sometimes lose focus of what is on the screen.

Well if you haven’t experienced that I have, and often times I find my self rubbing my eyes and thinking I am going blind. I was so concerned I went to an eye doctor who told me my vision was fine and I should blink more when on the computer. He told me that when we sit at the computer our eyes don’t blink as much as they normally do, causing our eyes to get dry. So he said to try to make a conscious effort to blink more while on the computer.

gunnar opticsWell while that sounded easy it wasn’t because I would forget to blink and not make that conscious effort, so I still from time to time found my self rubbing my eyes and losing focus on the screen.

Then at CES I met up with the guys at Gunnar Optics and they showed me their eye wear. Which was pretty cool looking, something I wouldn’t mind wearing. They had some decent looking frames and the lenses had kind of a yellow tint to them. They then told me how their eye glasses would help my vision when on the computer. They basically told me the same thing my doctor did, that when staring at the computer screen we do not blink as much and that air would get into our eyes and dry them up, so that their eye wear not only protected my eyes from the radiation from the monitor but because they sat close to my eyes they prevented air from drying them up.

I personally didn’t buy it at first, and thought they were trying to screw people into buying 150 dollar pair of eye glasses that didn’t work. I honestly thought they looked like sun glasses that weren’t tinted all the way, but they wanted to prove me wrong so they gave me a pair to try out.

When I first got them I didn’t really bother to use them, until I got back to NY right after CES and was sitting at my screen writing up some post about CES when I began to lose focus on the screen. I started to rub my eyes again and then I remembered I had a pair of Gunnar Optics glasses in my suit case. I grabbed them put them on and it seemed like my vision improved almost immediately.

Since then I have not used any computer with out wearing them, and since then I have not had an instance where my eyes have felt tired or the screen is out of focus. They truely do work. I personally thought that the yellow tinted lenses would bother me, but you really don’t notice it.

I even used it in game play and I didn’t notice it their either, something else I did notice though was in First Person Shooters. I am one of those punks who gets dizzy in First Person Shooter games, but since I have been wearing the Gunner Optics glasses I have not had one dizzy spell. Not sure if the glasses would be a cure for everyone but they definitely helped me out.

Overall the Gunnar Optics glasses are a must have for any IT Pro or anyone who uses the computer a lot each day, and for the 99 dollar - 189 dollar price day they are well worth it. If you have prescription lenses you can even go to your eye doctor to get Gunnar Optics Lenses with your prescription. I seriously recommend these glasses for everyone and that is why I award it our 5 Star Must Have Award. Just think of the long term eye damage you can prevent with these glasses, it’s priceless.

For those curious these are the glasses I have. I kind of wish I had these but they are out of my price range. :(

I think I might grab a pair of these, but 189 is a bit steap. But it may be worth it.
