Last week HP made it easier for businesses with 1 to 9 employees to easily find products aimed toward businesses of their size, with a new micro site.
HPDirect.com/biz will help small businesses find the products that are best suited for them. The new micro site will offer 24 hour shipping, savings on ink and toner, and the opportunity to customize their computers along with a easy no hassle return policy.
was pretty impressed by the portability the HP Compaq Ultra Slim Desktop PC dc7800, I was blown away by the power of the HP xw4600 Personal Workstation.
The HP xw4600 is a great machine for the power office user, such as Radiris who tends to work with excel files with 20 plus tabs and typically take 5 minutes to open up on her slow laptop. (Took less than 10 seconds on the xw4600). It’s also a great machine for digital content creation or photographers which is what I liked the most about the machine. It also can handle CAD pretty darn well.
After a 30-day conversation, I will be giving that baby away.
HardwareGeeks.com will also be giving away a Compaq dc7800 UltraSlim desktop fully loaded workstation in the coming weeks.
Workstations in general, and HP workstations in particular, were introduced to me as a viable alternative to the fully configured desktop computer system.
Pursuant to that, I received a couple of HP workstations to review. My review of the xw4600 follows below. The xw6600, which shares the same design and performance philosophies; as a result, that review will focus on the performance scenarios run by SmallBizVista.com.

AMD has been battling it out with Intel in the courts in the US.
About a year ago, we were able to get a teleconference with AMD Executive VP and general counsel, Tom McCoy, the details of which I posted here after a personal follow-on interview with Tom.
Well, a couple of weeks ago, the other shoe dropped, with the United States Federal Trade Commission, FTC, escalating their former informal inquiry into Intel’s trade practices into a formal full-blown investigation.
Yesterday, I was at the HP facility in Fort Collins, Colorado, where I was briefed on HP’s offerings in the workstation space.
I went in to see what the offerings were with a view to finding out more information about the systems, and to see if they would pass muster, and become Logikworx’s recommended line of workstations, replacing our current line.
In a nutshell, I came away impressed.
Impressed with the range, power, pricing, and engineering that has gone into the HP workstations.
I was also shocked to find out that my engineering past had let to a tunnel vision as regards HP in workstations.
It is always a good idea to take your daily dose of sensational headlines in the IT press with a grain of salt!
In the last couple of weeks, the blogosphere has been abuzz with news that (Microsoft’s) BitLocker drive partition encryption process was penetrated, and indeed, easily defeated.
My first thought upon reading the research document from a team including the esteemed Edward Felton, was that this was an attack more likely to occur in exotic situations, and/or against highly targeted victims.
This blog will have one Contributor, his name John Obeto.
John Obeto brings HardwareGeeks.com over 20 years of computer experience. John started out as a Rocket Scientists for NASA before becoming the CEO Logikworx a small business solutions provider, which is based in the San Fransisco area and with clients around the world.
