There are times where you have to act like a mobster, but think like a Don. That’s the theme behind the sequel to the 2006 game based on the movie The Godfather. We got a chance to preview The Godfather II at EA’s 2008 Studio Showcase. Unfortunately, they wouldn’t let us play the game. Instead, Creative Director Mike Olsen walked us through a thirty minute demo of a very early version of the game. Here’s the scoop.
After a 30-day conversation, I will be giving that baby away.
HardwareGeeks.com will also be giving away a Compaq dc7800 UltraSlim desktop fully loaded workstation in the coming weeks.
Microsoft today announced that PowerPack 1 for Windows Home Server is available to all for download immediate.
The update fixes a data corruption problem that existed when users tried to edit files on the homeserver it self and had multiple hard drives. HP Is also releasing an update for their Media Connect Server today as well.
PowerPack 1 also adds 64bit support to the Windows Home Server Connector Software.
Lately I’ve had an interest in photography, and someone whom I can only say is now officially a best friend helped me get one today. So I thought I would take some unboxing pictures.
I bought the camera at Circuit City for 629 and it came with a 18-55 lens. (D60 18-55 VR Kit). I’m really excited about the camera, I plan to use it at an upcoming trip to Disney Land.
Dell last month announced their new Studio Notebooks, and I had a chance to play with one for 20 or so minutes a month or so ago and thought I would share my thoughts.
The new Studio Line is pretty impressive sexy looking machines designed for people who want who like to express themselves. The machines are available in six colors nine colors (Silver, Jet Black, Plum, Tangerine Orange, Flamingo Pink, Midnight Blue, Ruby Red and Spring Green) and uses in the award winning design that the XPS M1330 and M1530 brought to us.
We all need more storage space, and it isn’t just on our desktops. We need more and more storage that we can carry around with us and connect to our notebook computers, and USB thumb drives just aren’t cutting it anymore.
So now there are a ton of external hard drives available to that “mobile professional” but with a portable external hard drive comes a new security risk, if you lose the drive anyone who finds it can have access your data if it isn’t encrypted or password protected.
This is where the new Maxtor BlackArmor comes in, the BlackArmor gives you Government grade security and if you ever need to wipe the hard drive clean, you can with the SecureErase technology that wipes the hard drive clean and prevents any data from being recovered.

Yesterday it was announced that Dirk Meyer will replace Hector Ruiz as President and CEO of the company. While most companies would have issues with a new CEO at the helm and employees would have to get use to it. That doesn’t seem to be the case with AMD.
Since yesterday I have spoken with several people from AMD and they all have basically told me the same thing. That Dirk has been running the show for sometime and that if anything the CEO title Hector Ruiz held was just an honorary title.
One AMD employee told me “I never heard any product manager or department manager say it’s up to Hector or we need Hectors Approval, it has been we need Dirks approval and it has been that way for sometime.”
Recently I reviewed the AAA (Automobile Association of America) GPS software for cell phones which is powered by Networks in Motion. Recently there was an update to the software and I wanted to tell you about it.
This time I have not been testing the AAA version but the Verizon VZ Navigator which is essentially the same thing. I have been testing the updated software for nearly a month and a half on and off due to a lot of travel and forgetting the phone back in NY.
As this year’s E3 comes to a close, let’s take a look at the bigger new announcements and see who came out on top. Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft all had press conferences that gave us a few surprises. There were hardware announcements that ranged from new bundles from Sony, to new accessories from Nintendo. Lots of talk about video content took place as Microsoft announced deals with Netflix and other studios, and Sony announced their own video download service. New games were announced for all systems, including God of War III, Wii Sports Resort, and Lips. Casual games were big this year, with announcements of games like You’re in the Movies and Animal Crossing: City Folk. Perhaps the biggest surprise came from Microsoft and Square Enix as they revealed that Final Fantasy XIII will be heading to the Xbox 360. All in all, it felt like a very eventful E3 for every platform.
Which console company do you think did the best this year in terms of new announcements? View a recap list of major announcements after the break!
AMD votes in Dirk Meyer as CEO and President, Hector Ruiz remains as Executive Chairman of the Board.
My contacts at AMD have mixed feelings, some saying off the record that it is about time and others are legitimately sad about the news. I myself met Hector Ruiz last year and it’s kind of sucks to see him go as the face of AMD.
