And now for something completely different:

“I’m recording this message so that if I don’t make it, at least somebody- anybody who finds it will have an idea of what the hell they’ll face getting through this nightmare.  Our original party was four: Bill, Francis, Zoey, and me, Louis.  We were trying to make it to the top of Mercy Hospital, but I’m the only one left, and I don’t know if I can do this alone.  Bill was the first to go.  We had just cleared a horde of zombies and he stopped to patch himself up while the rest of us went ahead a bit to scout...a muffled scream was the only warning we had.  By the time I blew the smoker’s head off its tongue had already crushed his windpipe.  Zoey was next...she was a cute little thing.  A boomer threw up nasty green liquid all over her and a hunter shredded her before Francis and I could clear the mass of Infected from around her.  We made it into the subway tunnels alright, but Francis ran off into the dark when he heard a woman sobbing...thought it might be another survivor.  I heard the Witch scream, but I didn’t turn around.  Wait, I can see a heavy metal door at the top of this room...it’s a safehouse!  I might actually.*thud thud thud thud*..wait...what’s that rumbli- Oh God noit’saTanknonoNONONO *ROOOOOOOOAR* *gunfire* *crunch crunch crunch*” - Audio recovered from a mangled tape recorder by unidentifiable remains.

Hit the jump for more prose and less agony.

The sixth installment of Koei’s hack’n’slash re-imagining of the action-packed battles during China’s Three Kingdoms era is the second of the series (not including the oddball Dynasty Warriors: Gundam) to appear on this generation’s consoles.  Players are once again able to control a variety of generals from the epic composed by Luo Guanzhong and hack their way through thousands of enemies in the name of uniting China under a single leader.  A few new elements are introduced to update the experience for both veterans and newcomers to the series alike, but are they enough to make the game any better than its five predecessors?  Read on to find out what I thought.

I have been using Yahoo!’s IM service for many years now and it seems over the last three years that their service has gone downhill.  The application always does something unexpected.  When I started to use a MAC, the one thing I noticed was that in a chat conversation, when a new message came in from the people I was speaking with, the chat log window would scroll to the BEGINNING of the conversation instead of at the end.  This makes me have to scroll down to the bottom every time a message comes in and that’s just ANNOYING!

Yesterday Electronic Arts offered $26 per outstanding Take-Two Share and that seemed to upset Take-Two Interactive as they have advised their stock holders to ignore EA.

Take-Two also said it’s board of directors will review EA’s offer and decide on it with in 10 days.

In Japan, March 14th is “White Day,” kind of a reverse Valentine’s Day.  Traditionally, on Valentine’s Day, Japanese girls will give chocolates to boys, and an enterprising marshmallow maker decided that White Day could be a chance for the boys to give something back (as well as make him a profit).  Therefore, on this day, I would like to dedicate the video game remix to a sprite who represents a man who was once better recognized for his sharp dress and smooth moves rather than his deteriorating physical appearance and accusations of impropriety with younger children.  Yes, dear readers, today’s remix is dedicated to the Moonwalker, Michael Jackson.  And yes, the videos are pure awesome.

It was once said that “All roads lead to Rome.” Today, the same practically applies to Nintendo’s DS console, especially if you replace “roads” with “franchises” and consider that the DS has been a large part of establishing Nintendo as the leader in today’s console wars.  Recently, many companies have decided that as long as the DS is the place to be, they will produce games for the DS that add-on to or replicate their more popular products in the home console market.  Take a look at a few of the properties that have come to roost on Nintendo’s little money maker.

Last week I received an AMD Spider system which has a quad-core Phenom 9700 2.4GHz processor and a 256MB ATI Radeon HD 3850 graphics card. Both the processor and graphics card are samples, with the video card having a sticker that reads “Non-Qualifications Sample” slapped on it.

When AMD first introduced me to Phenom over a year ago, they made comments such as “We don’t duct tape our cores together” and “We will deliver a processor that will eliminate the hour glass”. I took those statements with a grain of salt, and early benchmarks made everyone wonder if AMD was going to pull through. I have come to realize over the past week that while the hour glass hasn’t disappeared, I do see it a lot less. There is a lot of room for improvement but after all I just have an engineering sample in this machine the final version will most likely be better.
