There are times where you have to act like a mobster, but think like a Don. That’s the theme behind the sequel to the 2006 game based on the movie The Godfather. We got a chance to preview The Godfather II at EA’s 2008 Studio Showcase. Unfortunately, they wouldn’t let us play the game. Instead, Creative Director Mike Olsen walked us through a thirty minute demo of a very early version of the game. Here’s the scoop.
Take Two today rejected EA’s hostile takeover bid and it’s board of directors has said the $26 dollar offer per share is inadequate.
The board also filed a commendation with the SEC that request Share Holders to ignore EA’s offer. Take Two also said it will explore other alliances with third party companies such as EA to add value to their stock.
“With one of the strongest portfolios of intellectual property in our business, a superb creative and business team, and a revitalization plan that is beginning to deliver results, Take-Two is uniquely positioned to create stockholder value in an industry that is enjoying the highest growth rates of any entertainment medium. We are effectively working toward a process to review all available options to maximize this value, either as an independent company or in combination with a third party, and are open to beginning informal discussions starting now. Our stockholders’ interests would hardly be served by accepting an offer from EA at the wrong price and the wrong time. As a result, the Board recommends that stockholders not tender any of their shares to EA.”
Western Digital today announced their new My Passport Elite line of USB portable hard drives.
The My Passport Elite drives weight 5 ounces and will be available with 250 GB ($169.99) and 320 GB ($199.99) storage, more than enough storage for the professional on the go.
“Your digital content is as personal today as photos in shoeboxes and racks of CDs were yesterday,” said Jim Welsh, vice president and general manager of WD’s branded products and consumer electronics groups. “The device that securely holds your content should be just as personal. Having listened to our customers, we are expanding the options available on our WD Passport family of personal storage devices with more features, content management functions and fashionable design.”

Ah, Jack Thompson. Honestly, I feel a little bit dirty giving the man even this tiny bit of press, but for those who have been aware of his anti-gaming crusade over the last few years and his relentless sparring with opponents ranging from corporate bigwigs to webcomic artists, they can ostensibly stop ignoring him long enough to draw some mild enjoyment from excerpts from the transcripts of his nine-day trial last December.
Thompson was the plaintiff in an ethics trial at the end of last year that could potentially see him disbarred in the state of Florida, with a decision expected from presiding Judge Dava Tunis some time next month. Website Gamepolitics.com obtained transcripts of testimony of five prosecution witnesses and has set up a ”Bar Trial Series” in which they focus on the gaming parts of the testimony and cross-examinations.
I will start this review off by saying, I am a huge couch potato. I have had several remotes on my coffee table in the past 2 years, and I needed a solution.
So during CES, when Logitech showed off the new Harmony One, I begged my contact at Logitech to send me one, and for the past month and a half that I have had the remote, I am happy with it. If she hadn’t sent me one, I would of gladly bought one.
The Harmony One is a great looking remote. It has a full color touch screen display which allows you to browse various activities. It also allows you to view uncommon buttons your remote may have for a particular device. Navigating through the various screens on the touch screen is very easy. A gentle tap left or right will get you where you want to go.
After being down for nearly 12 hours, Netflix.com is back up, I have been able to login but encountered a few errors that have since cleared up.
According to News.com you may experience a few delivery delays as the entire database that controls the Netflix Website and their Distribution centers was affected. But everything seems to be running smoothly now so I doubt there will be a delay of more than a day.
