Sandisk and some Music Labels have teamed up to bring us Slot Music, instead of buying a CD or an 8 track, you buy a microSD card full of music that is ready to be played on mobile phones, smart phones and any multimedia device that supports microSD cards.
According to an article in the Wall Street Journal (must register to view), there will be 29 albums available from 4 labels. SlotMusic will be available from Major Retailers like Best Buy.
What is so great about Slot Music (SlotMusic) is that the files on the microSD card will be in the mp3 format and Digital Rights Management (DRM) free. Meaning you can share your music with all of your friends and you aren’t limited to the amount of devices you can play the songs on.
You can even put the music on your iPod if your heart so desired. There is no word on the price but if I were to guess I would say 80 cents for each song on the SlotMusic card, so anywhere from 8 to 20 dollars depending on how much music is on the card.
So which are the 4 music labels? EMI Music, Sony BMG, Universal Music Group, and Warner Music Group.

Yeah, and it will all be popular music that is played out on the radio. Bah-humbug.
