Recently I reviewed the AAA (Automobile Association of America) GPS software for cell phones which is powered by Networks in Motion. Recently there was an update to the software and I wanted to tell you about it.
This time I have not been testing the AAA version but the Verizon VZ Navigator which is essentially the same thing. I have been testing the updated software for nearly a month and a half on and off due to a lot of travel and forgetting the phone back in NY.
The software allows you to search locally for things of interest or the cheapest gas price nearby, also movie show times and of course it helps you find your way around town. Just like the previous version I tested, it locates your location really fast, this one didn’t seem faster than the previous version but it definitely wasn’t slower.
It is also very easy and fun to use. I used the software even when I didn’t have to just to see where I was on the map. I know that sounds childish but hey, it was fun.
The only bad experience I had with it was trying to figure out how to get it to follow sidewalks and not streets. If a street is a one way street I can walk in both directions. I couldn’t figure out how to set the software to allow me to do that. I only used the directions part of the software when driving, and even though the screen is rather small with its audible alerts and a quick glance at the screen you won’t get lost.
There is also some desktop software you can use to manage your addresses which is pretty cool.
Overall I really liked the software and recommend it to anyone who has a phone with service that supports a Networks in Motion powered solution, as they are a lot better than telenav and the software UI is 10 times better and quicker.
VZ Navigator is available from Verizon for $2.99 for a day or $9.99 a month, the service is free to Nationwide Premium Subscribers.

I use Vz Navigator I have it on my work phone and use it all the time. I love it.
I use to have telenav but it was often a bitch to get to work right.
