We all need more storage space, and it isn’t just on our desktops. We need more and more storage that we can carry around with us and connect to our notebook computers, and USB thumb drives just aren’t cutting it anymore.

So now there are a ton of external hard drives available to that “mobile professional” but with a portable external hard drive comes a new security risk, if you lose the drive anyone who finds it can have access your data if it isn’t encrypted or password protected.

This is where the new Maxtor BlackArmor comes in, the BlackArmor gives you Government grade security and if you ever need to wipe the hard drive clean, you can with the SecureErase technology that wipes the hard drive clean and prevents any data from being recovered.

It’s also great for those of us who travel internationally a lot, it will keep your sensitive files private and if customs in any country decides to confiscate the drive from you, then all you lose is the money you spent on the drive.

But not only is the BlackArmor external hard drive secure and portable, it’s also good looking, with its black and silver sleek finish it will look good next to any notebook and on any conference room table.

What really impressed me about the Maxtor BlackArmor wasn’t the government grade security but its easy software installation; it showed Maxtor put a lot of effort into making the entire experience a good one and not as stressful to use as some of their other software.
