Earlier this week I attended a press event here in NYC, and I thought I would share with you some of the cool products and gadgets that you should keep a look out for.
I have always been a fan of Thinkpads due to their durability and sleek look, but honestly, despite me wearing black all the time, a little color never hurt anybody! The new line of products that Lenovo just rolled out will make them a major contender in the consumer market. I truly believe Lenovo will become a household name, their laptops and desktops were just as sexy as any thin, tiny Mac.
They even had this intricate engraving, or etching (not sure what you call it) on their extremely tiny laptops (U110). Now this is the real reason why I loved this tiny laptop – despite its size, the keyboard is perfect! I hate messing around with the tiny laptops because I feel like they’re meant for tiny fingers, and as a female that’s probably around 5’8-9, my hands aren’t that tiny. SO yea, the keyboard on the tiny computer rocks, and all of the other computers have the same keyboards that were used on IBM’s ThinkPads computer so you know they’re good.
They have a gaming laptop that to me seemed overly engineered, only because I don’t game…I’m sure many people will love it though, it seemed so good, like they must’ve went to an arcade, asked everyone what they would want in a laptop and said “TaDaaaaaaa-we got it!”. I swear it has all the functionality a gamer will need, that computer is the (Y710 – aka ‘The Gamer’s Dream). Woohoo to Lenovo and their new line of sexy! Good luck!!!
Fujifilm had a cute line of disposable cameras but I can only remember that Snoopy was on some of them. Once my eyes caught glimpse of their FinePix Z100fd, it was just me and the camera in the room. It was like Eminem’s video (many, many yrs ago) where the cameras just seem to go around him and its like it’s only him in the world. Well yea, that was me yesterday. They had the camera in Black and White, so automatically I pictured myself in a black cocktail dress w/ James Bond, taking pictures, while everyone ‘Ooooed” and “Ahhhhh-ed’ over the camera. I know, trust me, it was that serious. The camera looks so sophisticated. I snapped out of it once I saw Mike drop business cards about 15 business cards into the raffle jar. I dropped one of mine in too.
Digital frames are everywhere. At most events, someone is displaying a new one. Parrot had one that was inspired by a French interior designer (see below) (veryyyyyyy nice) and ViewSonic had one that didn’t have any bright branding on it, that lit up when you touched it. I loved it. I started to wonder why I haven’t purchased one yet. I always see them out, but none have caught my eye the way these have. I want to try one out for myself (hint, hint to the Digital Frame Gods) – I love taking pics, but prefer my home look simple and sophisticated, instead of looking like a museum w/ a frame on every wall.
I may not have the lingo down yet, but boy did ViewSonic’s 16” HDTV impresed me. I didn’t understand half the questions that were exchanged but I just saw myself owning a couple. The picture was so clear, and the monitor was probably the best I’ve ever seen. I never thought I’d want a TV in the kitchen but their mountable LCDs looked too good to resist and only Mike would think about putting one in the bathroom, so I hope they get back to him on whether or not they’ll survive hot showers…yea, Mike asked.
Mio is coming out with a super cool Knight Rider GPS system, so for all those speed demons this is definitely a gadget you want to get. It has a name database for I believe 300+ names. The biggest difference between the GPS systems now and Mio’s new one, is that when you have it programmed using KITT’s voice, street names won’t be spoken, instead you’ll hear ‘Turn in .4 miles” or whatever. It’s not bad though, I’d feel pretty damn cool if I felt like I had my own Knight Rider car – wouldn’t you??
Be on the lookout for these cool products, theres so much more to write about, those were just on the top of my head.
