There are a lot of netbooks on the market and they seem to all have the same specs, so I really didn’t expect much from the NB205 that I hadn’t experienced with other netbooks.
After all the NB05 is slightly bigger than other netbooks from HP and Lenovo, and for some reason I immediately thought of that as a bad thing. But sometimes smaller doesn’t always mean better when it comes to netbooks and the NB205 proved that to me. Oh and bigger doesn’t always mean heavier. It weighs the same as my HP mini 1000.
The NB205 has to be one of the coolest looking netbooks available, and in the rainbow of colors that it is available in I am sure there is one for everyone.
Toshiba hasn’t always had the best looking machines (Satellites of past come to mind), but they do have the best looking netbook, and you can tell they took a lot of time designing it.
The 10.1 inch widescreen display may not deliver a pure HD picture but when I had it connected to my portable blu-ray player, it did deliver a crisp clean image.
Powered by an Intel atom processor you can expect the same performance you’d get from other netbooks on the market there really isn’t a difference in power between the NB205 and the HP Mini 1000.
The big differences are in the keyboard and the touchpad.
As I said before the NB205 is bigger, and that is because of the slightly bigger chick-let keyboard which is really nice to type on, and the bigger full sized touchpad with buttons on the bottom. Making the NB205 the most comfortable Netbook I have ever used it literally put my HP Mini to shame and I hurt inside saying that because I really do like the HP Mini. But if the NB205 were available when I purchased my Mini I probably would have gone with the NB205.
I like how Toshiba also put the memory card readers in front of the system, and easy to understand lights that actually tell me what they represent when the system is closed. Other systems you have to open them up to know what the blinking light means.
The interrelated webcam worked well, it wasn’t the greatest picture quality but it was decent.
Battery life on the NB205 is amazing also, using it to browse the web, write a few emails and do some work it lasted 7 hours 15 minutes on 1 charge. I probably worked 2 hours straight sat the notebook down let it hibernate while I worked on something else before coming back to it, but I got 7 hours 15 minutes of work done on it before the battery drained.
Overall the NB205 is the best netbook currently available in my opinion and because of that I award it our 5 Star Editors Choice Award!

I was going to go with the Lenovo but seeing that this has a big touchpad I may go with Toshiba. But is it heavier and how much bigger than the Lenovo?
