I used to have a set of problems, a set of problems that a lot of you probably have right now, or have had in the past. It’s the being scared to death when commercials come on problem, the waking up the loved ones when commercials come on during the late late late show problem, and the ringing in your ears after flipping through a few channels problem.
The problem is so bad, that there are law makers in this great country of ours who are trying to push through legislation that would force TV Stations, Cable and Satellite providers to try and fix the problem. But even if such legislation passes, will anything really be done?
SRS recognized this problem and they wanted to put an end to it and so they created the MyVolume Adaptor. What it does is equalize the sound level on all of your channels and programming. How it does this is beyond my level of expertise so I won’t pretend to know, even though they have explained it to me a couple dozen times. However, it does what it was designed to do perfectly.
You connect the MyVolume Adaptor via HDMI or RCA cables depending on your cable box. You connect your input (From your Cable box or Satellite dish) to the MyVolume Adaptor, and then with the HDMI cable that comes with the device, you connect the output to the television.
Push the on button once to set the reference level on the MyVolume Adaptor, then turn on your television and be prepared to not be blown away by loud commercials anymore.
I immediately noticed the difference in the sound. It sounded more natural and more appealing to my ears. When a commercial came on that I have experience with as being extremely loud (local cable commercial) I began to cheer when it didn’t sound as if I just raised the volume on my television to the max.
I remember my friend who was with me when I first tried it saying “Dude your making more noise than the commercial now”.
But it didn’t just muffle commercials; it did the same for channels like TBS which tends to be loud for me. Everything seemed to have been equalized. Channels that were typically low and I would have to raise the volume, were at the same level as channels that were typically high and I had to lower the volume. Not only am I seeing improved sound levels but my remote will probably last longer because I am not using it to lower and raise the volume on channels as much.
The SRS MyVolume is a must have and I recommend it to everyone. I have tested both the digital and analog version, and they both work perfectly.
While some have said the $199 price tag on the MyVolume Adaptor is kind of high. You can get it directly from SRSLabs for $99.99 and it’s worth every penny, even if you paid the $199.
For the month of January we award the SRS MyVolume our 5 Star Editors Choice award.
We loved the SRS MyVolume so much that we have asked SRS if we could give 5 of the HDMI version away and they said yes. Plus, we are going to make it very easy for you to enter the contest. All you have to do is visit the SRS Labs Fan page on facebook, become a fan. Then reply to this review with a link to your facebook page, also tell us your high volume commercial story (not a requirement to enter). Three of the MyVolume Adaptors will be given away to someone selected at Random. Two will be given to the two people who are able to get the most of their friends to fan the SRS facebook page. To become a fan of SRS Labs on facebook go to http://www.facebook.com/srslabs.
On the 28th of February I will select the 5 winners.

I don’t have much of a story, just that it’s become a habit to turn the volume down / off every time a commercial comes on, in an effort to not get my ears blown out

I have been a FAN of SRSLabs on facebook for quite some time already. I also have been following @SRSLabs on Twitter and have learned alot about this product via their iPod contest giveaway over several weeeks. This product sounds like it is just what we need! Several months agon my husband and I both realized that we had to have the remote control to our television in our hands at all times during a movie or tv show as the commercials would suddenly spike up very loudly. If we didn’t keep the remote in hand we would both JUMP and rush to grab it as to not wake up our son who was sleeping. It is ridiculous the extreme difference in volume between our favorite shows and these commercials. Thank you for this gerat giveaway! I hope we win one! It would be a dream:)

Have to have the remote constantly in my hand to quickly hit either mute or lower the volume every time for a commercial. Not a fun way to relax and enjoy tv. There is also a tv program that I love to watch but have to quickly mute or turn down when a segment is over or just beginning (NCIS Los Angeles - anyone else notice?) The SRS MyVolume would be a dream come true!

I seriously hate loud commercials. Rest his soul, Billy Mays was one of the worst offenders.

I have been a fan of SRS for quite awhile now and I have posted on their wall too.
My high volume story: I was baking a homemade lasagna for dinner and my hubby was in the living room, next to the kitchen, watching tv. Right when I took the bubbling, hot lasagna out of the oven, he changed the channels. Well the one he changed to went up by 400% in volume during a screaming commercial and I dropped the glass dish on the floor from the shock. Glass and boiling hot cheese flew everywhere from the force of the startle. I even ended up with blistered burns from it. That is one of my high volume stories. I would love to be able to control the sound on the t.v.’s. It is a real nuisance and I hate the fluctuations. Thank you so very much for having this contest! One of these days I will be saved :D.
