I don’t like to give any product I review the “Best” label even though I have I have said in past reviews that one product may be the best at what it does and what it was designed for, but those are few and far between.

However the NZXT Rouge is the “Best” computer case for media center PC’s and it’s not the best because of how small it is, because it isn’t the smallest it’s the best at the features and how easy it made my media center build.

rougeWhen I unboxed the NZXT Rouge back in March, as I ripped away the plastic and pulled it out of the box the only thing I could think of was using it to set up a Media Center PC in my living room with the new improved Windows 7 that should be out by September (just a guess).

So that is exactly what I did, I built a Media Center PC with it using a Beta of Win 7.

The case looks great for the living room too, and since it’s small I can fit it under the end table next to my television. The LED’s bothered me a bit at first but it was easy to disable them, and the LED fans I just replaced them with non LED fans.

The Rouge has a 3mm Aluminum frame making it probably one of the sturdiest cases, I have used in a while, and even though it was small it had a lot of room inside for all the peripherals I wanted from. I wanted 4 TV Tuners and it had enough for all 4.

When installing the motherboard and other peripherals it was also a breeze to do so, since there was so much room I didn’t have a hard time installing anything.

After I got it all set up I was worried about the noise the system would generate, but the rouge kept it to a minimum and with my surround sound system whatever noise did escape was masked by the surround sound.

Overall the Rouge is Great and I recommend it for anyone putting together a media center PC even though I don’t think NZXT wanted it to be for media centers.
