Last year HPs business notebook division put their consumer notebook division to shame. How? You may ask. They created a notebook that is so stylish and sleek that it is in my opinion one of the top three best looking machines HP has created.
I would honestly say the Voodoo Envy and the ProBook series from HP are one and two in looks and design. The sad thing is the ProBook is a business machine so many consumers don’t even know about it or know how to purchase one.
The ProBook 4510s is available with all versions of Win 7, Vista and XP. You can also get it with SuSe linux or FreeDos. It’s powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, up to 8 GB of memory, and up to a 500 GB HDD. The display on the machine is a beautiful 15.6 inch LED Backlit display and its anti-glare. So if you are like me and like to go outside to work the sun won’t drown out the colors on the screen.
The ProBook 4510s has a starting price of $529.99 and when you think about it you start to wonder can it deliver the power you need to do your daily task. After all, this machine is intended for small businesses and small business users tend to be heavy multi-taskers like myself, can a sub 600 dollar machine handle that? The answer is most can’t but the 4510s can.
I had no problems running Excel, Access and Word simultaneously. I had no problem encoding a video while I browsed the web or used an office application. There were no noticeable slowdowns on the system at all; it handled everything I threw at it and more.
The Probook 4510s is also available with Mobile Broadband from at&t, Sprint and Verizon Wireless. The machine HP Loaned me did not have the mobile broadband option so I can’t comment on how well it performed. But it’s nice to know it’s an option.
I use my laptops when I travel a lot, and one thing I constantly worry about is battery life, with the 6 Cell battery I was able to achieve a little over four and a half hours. Which is barely enough for a cross country flight. There is an 8-cell option which I did not test but HP has the battery life listed for that battery at 7 hours. So in reality it may last you six to six and a half hours.
Overall the ProBook is the best looking business notebook from any major OEM and at the price point it strats at one of the most affordable.
