Last year HP came out with a new stylish series of business notebooks, a series that I thought would actually rival that of Lenovos.
Recently I had the chance to play with an HP EliteBook 2530p for 3 weeks and not only did it have style but it had the power and ruggedness I would expect from a business system.
The HP Elitebook 2530p is powered by an Intel Core 2 duo process and capable of handling up to 8 GB of memory. It has a built in finger print reader, web cam, up to 120 GB of HDD storage space, wireless N and optional mobile broadband. The Elitebook is a full feature no holds bar system.
I used the system for normal day to day activities such as working in excel, access, and checking emails. I also did some CAD work on it and it handled it all flawlessly.
I even watched some movies on it so those business men and women out there who travel a lot the picture quality on these systems is pretty good and instead of working during a long flight you can watch a movie or two.
The battery life on the systems ranged from 3 hours to 4 and a half depending on what you were doing. When I used CAD the battery life was shorter than when I simply used Office Programs.
Overall the Elitebook is a great business system and powerful enough to handle the task you throw at it. It also has a rugged design, while I wouldn’t say it’s capable of being dropped off a building like a Toughbook it can handle its fare share of dings.
The HP EliteBook 2530p is available directly from HP with a starting price of $1349.
