I love my iPhone 3G S but I have one major problem with it, the battery life is horrible and I found myself sticking the charger in my pocket and plugging it in to charge every chance I got.
I do not like carrying the charger everywhere I go as I personally hate having things in my pockets and I really didn’t want to have to hunt for an electrical outlet to plug it into everytime the battery was near death, so I got myself the Mophie Juice Pack Air since it promised to give me an additional battery life up to 4.5 hours of talk time and data useage. I was getting about 2 and a half hours.
When the Juice Pack Air first arrived I was a bit disappointed by how much it weighed and how big it made the phone, but a few drops and hours of free time from having to search for an outlet to plug my charger in I am able to look past the size and weight.
The Juice Pack air is easy to use all you do is put your iPhone 3G or iPhone 3G S into it and charge it up. The Juice Pack Air has a switch that you push on or off when you want and don’t want to charge the phone. So you’re iPhone won’t charge the entire time its in the Juice Pack. This helps increase the battery life of the Juice Pack and I’ve been able to fully charge my iPhone 3GS from 30% six times before the battery on the Juice Pack itself was drained.
There is also a battery meter on the back of the Juice Pack that shows you how much battery you have left.
Overall I really like the Juice Pack Air for the iPhone 3G and 3G S so if you are like me tired of the horrible battery life on your iPhone you should definitely consider one.

I never have had my battery drain on my iPhone. You must be using it wrong.

Michael. I would suggest that when you don’t need fast data access that you turn off 3G by going into Settings->General->Network and turning off 3G. I’ve heard that a lot of people on AT&T;in the US have problems with their phones switching back and forth between 3G and Edge and that this constant searching for networks eats up a lot of juice. Talking in 3G mode only gives you marginally better call quality at the expense of more battery drain.
Also consider turning off Bluetooth and Location Services under Settings->General unless you use a bluetooth headset. Michael, are you using a turn by turn navigation app by any chance? That would eat up your battery like crazy.
You must be either using location services and data a lot or talking up a storm in 3G mode. Try talking on Edge given the poor 3G network in NY.

I don’t have bluetooth enabled but I do require data and have a solid 3G signal where i live.
I know I need the data and that’s the reason my phones battery life is weak but having used other smart phones such as blackberry and winmo devices I could go an entire day before my battery would die.

Those devices are using smaller screens and make sure Wi-Fi is turned off

I had a similar problem with a different brand handset: turned out to be a bad battery.

I am planning to unlock my iPhone 3G 16 GB. I plan to unlock and jailbreak it, so that I can install cracked apps. But my doubt is, Can I still be able to update my iPhone 3G through iTunes, after this process?
