Th rumors have finally been confirmed, Motorstorm 2 is real. According to ThreeSpeech the game is set to be released in Autumn 2008. It will feature 4-player split-screen, 16 new tracks featuring new environments and monster trucks have been added.

According to the press release it will feature:
o A brand new location: experience the grandeur, diversity and unpredictability of a remote Pacific island
o 16 new diverse multi-route tracks hosting MotorStorm’s unique mixture of vehicles
o The aggressive monster truck now joins your garage
o Split-Screen Multiplayer racing – compete with up to four buddies on the same screen
Although it is in fact a target render, I think it will give us a good idea of what Evolution Studios is aiming for this time around. One of the most obvious things is the vegetation and lush jungle surroundings in the level with the ability to set traps for your opponents. I think that can adds a whole new layer to the game, it’s almost very puzzle like. What I mean by that is, now instead of just racing through levels you have to be aware of certain points in the which you can slow down your opponent by setting up new challenges for them in the middle of a race. That gets me very excited!
It seems as though Motorstorm 2 is what ES was aiming for when the first game was announced. I can’t wait to see how the game turns out this fall!
