Electronic Arts, Inc. proudly announced today that its “casual gaming” Sims franchise, started back in 2000, has sold over 100 million units including the two main games and the myriad of expansion packs.  This puts The Sims in fairly select company, as the other franchises that have a current claim to equal or greater numbers are Nintendo’s Mario franchise, at over 200 million, and the Pokemon phenomenon, with over 175 million units sold.  The Sims 2 players who want to celebrate with the company can hop over to the website tomorrow to pick up a free gift - an exclusive outfit to commemorate this sales milestone.
