Why do some of us love gaming so much? Is it because we sort of transport ourselves to a magically land, somewhere in Super Mario World? Or do we have hidden killer instincts that we must exhibit while playing Call of Duty (whatever number they’re up to)?
I’m participating in a podcast with Aeropause in a couple of weeks and it’s a gaming site and the first thing I asked myself was “Am I a gamer?, Do I qualify?”. Of the top of my head I thought definitely not. Why? Because I currently don’t own any gaming consoles and the ones I used to play with belonged to someone else – my brother, my ex…always someone else.
I’ve been an avid gamer since a child though. I remember when my brother had ATARI and I would just stare at him play some helicopter game in awe. Nintendo rocked, especially killing the ducks w/ the gun; Game Gear was always on my Christmas list but I never received it so I watched my cousin play Sonic on it; Super Nintendo was beyond amazing – I still play Super Mario World (any chance I get); Game Cube invaded my TV but through the hands of my younger sis (she’s 8 yrs younger and a super duper gamer); PlayStation was played by both of my siblings but by that time I was already in full geek mode – reading everything I got my hands on and involved in a plethora of extracurricular activities…
My ex brought me back to gaming and I’d forever appreciate him for that. Not because of the great graphics but because I always loved Tetris and he let me borrow his GameBoy throughout my 3rd and 4th year in college. I had sore thumbs for as long as I can remember, but it was a game I never got tired of.
The Wii brought on cute controllers but the one thing it brought back to me was an old flame…an old love…whatever you want to call it. It came along with just the simple purchase of some Wii points. I was playing DONKEY KONG COUNTRY in no time – one of my absolute favorite games…for real. That game is so much fun.
I’m an old school gamer though. I bought some PS3 games, like The Simpsons but I couldn’t quite get a handle on all the 3-D images. I’m the type of gamer that provides entertainment. I jump with the characters, sway to the side when necessary because yes I really believe it’ll improve my performance.
I play games on my phone but I can’t even remember when I last sat down and played a video game for a long time. I almost miss it and want to buy some gaming console. Why? - because it’ll take me away from the real world. The world of working, paying bills, responsibilities and everything else that can sometimes take the fun out of life.
Children used to take me away from the realities of college (I babysat) but now I think I may need to buy something to get my mind off of life when I’m home. I like cartoon and car games…any suggestions?? The Wii may provide what I need – the coolness factor but also the ability to reminisce with some old loves (remember Bust-A-Move!! the arcade game…I’m sure I can play that again somewhere).

Making the Holidays less stressful can be difficult. make Christmas gift giving simpler by giving either gift certificates or gift cards with a nice card and forget the wrapping and sending of packages. then try to forget the stress and strain with a bubble bath and a glass of your favorite beverage or a cup of hot chocolate, tea or coffee with relaxing music of your choice not the radio or television.hair styles

At home, i have been noticing that apart from video games my kids were not spending enough time for any skillful things, some body suggested me Reader Rabbit.. i tried it and my little ones love them they have everything in it, skill games, learning, basics etc.
