This is by far the oddest problem I've ever encountered.
I'll start from the begining to give all the details, I had Vista installed on a partition on my HD, I removed the partition and resized etc as I have done several times in the past. Then, to get rid of the boot choices I did a windows repair (install disk, install, repair) and once I did this many things had reverted to older states, like IE7 WMP 11 and many security updates were removed. I then proceeded to re-update my computer with all of the updates, then afterwards my USB Ports would turn off for my Z-Board Keyboard and G5 mouse. I tried using basic mouse and keyboard (using old interface and not USB) and they worked fine as long as I unplugged my USB mouse and keyboard. I then recalled I skipped a driver from my mobo driver disk, i then re-installed my chipset drivers and this had no effect on my problem. I tried my front USB ports on a hunch and now I can use my USB keyboard and mouse, yet when I re-installed the Z-board drivers the icon started turning off and on as if I was unplugging the keyboard and plugging it back in, then the keyboard and mouse stopped working while in the frontal ports. This continued when I plugged the USB mouse into the back, it worked for a bit then stopped. My post is probably confusing, as this problem has me boggled, when the devices stop working they dont even power on, yet I have a USB cable for my cell phone plugged into the back of the Z-Board and it still lights up... I'm wondering if a format would more then likely resolve this issue or is this more then likely an actual Motherboard issue? |

Delete the USB hub in your device manager and reboot, let windows reinstall the drivers etc. (make sure your keyobard and mouse are using hte PS/2 ports when you do this)

well my BIOS hasnt changed in months, chipset drivers have been the same from the start, I built this rig little less then a year ago. I dont understand why its all started now for no reason.
After messing around I now have the keyboard and mouse plugged back into the rear of the PC and everything seems to work again, I also have the same 2 usb flight stick and game controller plugged into the front and they work also... I really dont understand what is happening... or happened.. here is my system: Asus A8N-SLI Premium Nvidia chipset amd opteron 165 dual core 2g corsair xms ati x1900xt soundblaster x-fi extreme music |
