I cleaned out my corner of junk tonight. It was a bit painful but I finally tossed out all my unwanted computer hardware. I went through 4 computers and 1 monitor.
My first computer to kick the bucket was an intel 386DX25 with 4 megs of ram. It had an ExpertVGA controller card and a maxtor 125 meg drive. Plus the 3.5 and 5.25 floppy drives. My second computer was a 486DX100 with no memory as I'm using it in something else right now. hd is taken out, too. I also have a laptop (broken) with pretty similiar specs that is better off in the trash than in a corner. My last computer was an AMD K5 133, but it was one of those stupid Compaq computers. Man, I'd never buy something like that. All these computers I'm tossing were handed down to me when I didn't have a computer. My last 2 computers I've purchased on my own. To add to all this, I tossed out an AAmazing 14" montior that's basically gone through all those computers with me till it died about a year ago. (A good run of eleven years). Naturually, I had the idea of putting other OSes on either the 486 or the 586, but there just isn't enough time to bother with school and the fact that I can run windows good enough. One day i'll try it again, maybe during my work term. Anyway, if you made it this far, share your old hardware that is doing nothing but collecting dust. Heck, maybe it's a good time to look at your heap and start thinking about tossing it! |

my first computer is sitting at home in the basement collecting dust. It's a pentium 100 Mhz. Remember, it's not a good idea when installing a second HDD and missing screws to just use duct tape .

That's the very reason why I went to solely laptops now. I had damn near an entire closet full of cases, addon cards, optical drives, hard drives, old burnt-out cpus, motherboards...and my wife somewhat hated it. Actually, more than somewhat. She complained near constantly. So, we are a mobile family now.
