Is there any other way to retrieve files from an external HD other than a Data Retrieval service? I found out the hard way that once the 3000DV reaches 32G you have to reformat...loosing all your files!

There are a few software programs you can try.
You saying that as soon as the Drive was full you had to reformat.
That must of sucked. and Welcome to HWG.

Oh!!!! Thank you! yeah, I called Maxtor and they advised me to go to a data retrieval service...anywhere from $900-$5,000. Ouch. These externals are formatted for both PC and for MAC, but once you get to 32G on a MAC, you can't even get into the thing. I'm not computer guru, just a graphic designer.

If your on a MAC those programs I linked you to won't work unless you try to retrieve it from a pc.
How ever i modified my search on download.com to only give me mac software results
and here ya go
