hi there,
Umm i have an old pc, that runs windows 98, i leave it in my house for my roommates to use, and for me to play poker (the rest of the time I use a mac) but last night it began starting in what looks like safe mode to me, it's not safe mode. But it has the same bad graphics, some things work others don't look about it. I have no idea what's causing this, I've ran an antivirus guard and it didn't find anything. But in the meantime, I can't play poker, and my roommates want to use my computer for the internet, so if you could come up with anything that might be causing this, the help would be appreciated thank you.
andrew

Maybe the graphics drivers aren't loading properly. You could always try to reinstall them.

I'm with the above - graphics drivers, or possibly bad video adapter (card). Try reloading graphics drivers, or get a known good video card and load/install it. I still like 98 for light work, it runs great on cheap hardware (maybe because it is a cheap OS ;-)) like term papers and casual browsing.

Good idea to keep the security patches and AV up to date

Hey Andrew, graphics drivers probably got messed up.

I still have a 98 SE box that I play old games on.
