If you remove it I don't think you will beable to connect to your current ISP.
Basically their using IPv6 instead of IPv4
basically it's how your school has their network set up since it appears you are at school

no this thing has not always been here. It was on b4 i came to school, and i am sure it has nothing do with my school.

Ahh ok well to uninstall it do this... Btw is it causing you connection problems?
(From Microsoft.com)
To uninstall IPv6 from a computer using the command prompt
1. Open Command Prompt.
2. At the command prompt, type ipv6 uninstall, and then press ENTER.

i seem to be having the same problem on my windows vista. the teredo tunneling pseudo interface.....pc drags azz, pages take forever to load; n it is brand new. i just found this t.t.p.i. on my pc, but using the command prompt to uninstall it doesnt work. any suggestions? compaq wants me to continually do a destructive recovery and im tired of not being able to keep anything on a pc i get for very long

just disable IPv6 nothing uses it yet anyway, not even under vista
I've been working with similar things for Vista since the early Beta days, and I think that it's the "translator" for IPv6 so that it can function over IPv4 networks - and that it's assisted by the IP Helper service.
This seems to be a big issue with older networks/ISP's. Other things that'll help are disabling IPv6 (AFAIK the only program that needs it is MeetingSpace in Vista) and disabling the DHCP Broadcast Flag ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928233 )
No sure fix, but hopefully it'll be addressed in SP1

Teredo is a tunneling protocol (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tunneling_protocol) designed to grant IPv6 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPv6) connectivity to nodes that are located behind IPv6-unaware NAT (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_address_translation) devices. It defines a way of encapsulating (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Encapsulation_(networking)) IPv6 packets within IPv4 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPv4) UDP (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_Datagram_Protocol) datagrams that can be routed through NAT devices and on the IPv4 internet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPv4_internet).
My Vista gave me a blue screen, so I researched the error codes. I found another forum where the following advice was given to disable Teredo:
1. Open an elevated command prompt window:
a. Click Start > All Programs > Accessories.
b. Right-click "Command Prompt".
c. Click "Run as Administrator".
2. Type this command, then press Enter:
netsh interface teredo set state disabled
-------------------------------------------------------
This seemed to work (I got an "OK" response at the prompt). However, Control Panel's Device Manager still showed the TTP-I was unable to start (code 10). I then right clicked the entry in Device Manager and selected uninstall. The entry went away, so it looks like Alpha's advice above was sound advice! Disable might have worked fine, but I don't like seeing yellow exclamation marks in my device manager.
