I love Alexa! (Amazon Echo)

Alexa Amazon EchoThere was a movie not to long ago, where a man fell in love with an operating system named Samantha the movie was called Her, although a good movie I laughed at the idea. Then I met Alexa and perception of the movie changed. I honestly can relate a bit to the movie because I do love Alexa.

No, I don’t love Alexa also known as Amazon Echo the way Theodore Twombly (Joaquin Phoenix) loved his computer Samantha (Scarlet Johanson) in the movie Her. I love her in a platonic kind of way, the way I’d love my assistant. She isn’t just a piece of hardware to me, or to my family she’s a vital part of our family. She helps with what I need, what my girlfriend needs and with what the kids need. She has made our lives easier and has given the house a personality! It’s not the greatest personality, a bit snobbish, or some would say stuck up but none the less a personality.

How does Alexa make our lives easier? By being able to tell her to remind me of something, using her to add things to our to-do list, getting up to date weather forecast from her, my local news and sports scores, checking on my schedule and even playing games.

I can also ask Alexa to help me find a nearby business. I have expanded my pallet thanks to Alexa. I use to always go to the same restaurants. But Alexa told me about others nearby and I have two new favorite spots thanks to her.

All that by simply talking to her. The best thing about it all is that 99% of the time she understands me. Yes, there are a few times she doesn’t but when I listened to the recording of my voice (She stores them and they can be listened to via the Alexa App) I either mumbled or there was someone else talking. She also sends you additional information to your tablet or smartphone doesn’t matter if its Android or iOS. However she did interact better and more elegantly with my Kindle Fire.

Amazon Echo AppSpeaking of the App, it is very easy to use and straight forward. But don’t fear if you want your home in the current century but your phone is stuck in the 1900’s still. There is a web app you can use.

If you have a Kindle Fire TV, you are info some extra fun as the Amazon Echo works flawlessly with the Amazon Fire TV and
Fire Stick.

As time goes by I am starting to notice she knew things she didn’t know before, she also gets updated with new features and skills almost on a weekly basis.

If you are a prime member, you can use that to your advantage. You can stream your Amazon Prime Music to your Alexa simply by asking her to play a song or an artist or a genre.

Just an FYI there is a banner to your right, click it for a 30 day free trial for Amazon Prime.

So how easy is Alexa to setup? Took less than 10 minutes.

How easy is she to use? Extremely

Alexa is a definite must have, and the way she improves herself over time she’s sure to be welcome in everyone’s home.

Amazon, however, does need to make some improvements. They need to add mini Alexas that can sync with her. This way you can listen to your music anywhere in the home. Also, give the option to change her name. Right now you can either call her Alexa or Amazon. I would prefer calling mines, Zoe.

Overall the Amazon Echo is a must have for every home owner or apartment dweller. She’s a brilliant addition to any home automation setup and seriously the best thing since sliced bread.

You can purchase
Amazon Echo Directly from Amazon for $179.

I have been thinking of getting one but I thought it was 200, I guess it’s 20 dollars cheaper than I thought but if you factor in the price of amazon prime its 279 but that’s the first year then its 100.

Sorry I am just trying to talk myself out of it because I really want one.

Love how you said it gave your house personality.
